This week on the Overcomer’s Podcast we are talking with Diana Alt. She is a “no BS” executive coach and career growth strategist who helps people take charge of aligning life and livelihood.

For Diana, the death of her husband was the catalyst to figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. After Andy received a brain cancer diagnosis, she said to him, “I feel like if you don’t make it, the last day of your life is the second to last day of mine because I can’t do this. I don’t know how to function.” He said “that is the stupidest shit I’ve heard in my life. Your job is to live and to live well, whatever that means for you.” When her husband had his final seizure, Diana lay in a fetal position on the floor of the hospital and vowed to have an awesome life.

She had been in a career that had a very negative environment and was bullied by the women she worked with. She made the shift to a career in which she mentors others who want to stay happy in their career and others who are in a job they don’t like. For those, she can either help them change the work culture and learn to love it – or make a shift to a new career. Diana says that “work shouldn’t suck” and it shouldn’t feel like a long march towards oblivion.

Diana says that great work has four pillars.

  • You’re doing the right work.
  • You have a leader that has the right management style for you.
  • It has the right environment.
  • It has a good culture.
