Tracy McCubbin grew up in a home with a hoarder. She knows what it is like to have a home and a mind that is consumed by clutter, by stuff, by the emotions that are attached to the things that we own. The things that sometimes own us instead. She has firsthand experience with what it is to be overwhelmed by our things.

This is something that stuck with her into her adulthood, and, perhaps because of her experience with a hoarder, she was the opposite. She was always able to see through a cluttered space, to envision a space or home the way it was meant to be. Free of all the excess.

While she was working with a major television director in Los Angeles, her ability to help people see through their stuff and envision a space free of clutter started to make her money. People started asking for her help, and she realized that she may have a business doing this. Twelve years later, she is still helping people get rid of their clutter and live better lives. She has helped thousands of people with their clutter problem, and is continuing to do so today.

She even took all her experience and knowledge from her years decluttering and turned it into a book, “Making Space, Clutter-Free: The Last Book on Decluttering You’ll Ever Need.” She has even created a website, declutterfy.com, that helps people understand what to do with what they have. She is regularly called on as an expert in the media by media sites like Washington Post, NBC, and the Wall Street Journal.

When she isn’t helping people declutter and organize, she is working with OneKid OneWorld, a non-profit that is dedicated to building educational foundations for children in poverty stricken communities throughout Kenya and Central America.

A truly impressive resume, but she continues to push to do more and do better everyday. She even found time in her busy schedule to sit down with us and have a conversation. Join us on the podcast to hear about her story, how to declutter your home, and even a little bit about me and what I need to get rid of.

Tracy, we loved the conversation, it was truly enlightening. We can’t wait to do it again!
